Mesa’s Tax Credit and Utility Incentives

Mesa’s Energy Resources Department has launched a solar pilot program for City electric customers. The pilot will provide up to $75,000 of incentives to qualified residents and business property owners in its electric service area who purchase and install a qualified solar photovoltaic (P.V.) system. In addition to budget limitations, total interconnections during the pilot period are limited to 500 kilowatts (kW). Since funding is limited, participants who qualify for the program will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis based on application submittal and acceptance. The program will run through June 2016. Incentives for residential program participants will be limited to $1,000 ($0.20 per watt) for up to five (5) kWs. Commercial participants’ incentives will be limited to $15,000 ($0.20 per watt up to 75 kW). The Salt River Project (SRP) supplies electric service to approximately 90% of Mesa residents. SRP has many resources and programs to help reduce your energy use.

A 30% tax credit is available for clean energy generation with no upper limit through 2016. New and existing homes are eligible for the credit on the following items: Geothermal heat pumps, solar energy systems, solar water heaters, small wind turbines and fuel cells.
